Preparing for the School Year

Start the Routine Early: With just a few weeks left, now’s the time to reset summer sleep schedules. Gradually move bedtime earlier and wake up a bit earlier each day. A steady routine helps students adjust smoothly—and makes those first early mornings easier.

Talk About the Power of Showing Up: Attendance is more than just being present; it’s a habit that shapes success. Talk to your child about how each day builds on the last. Missing even a few days early on can make catching up hard. Set the tone that school is a priority.

Set Academic Goals Together: Sit down with your child and talk about their goals. Maybe it’s improving in math, reading more, or staying organized. Keep it positive and realistic. When students see their parents invested in their growth, it builds confidence and motivation.

Review the Basics: Brush up on key skills from last year—especially math and reading. Even 15–20 minutes a day can make a difference. Use free resources, apps, or even daily life (like calculating a recipe or reading instructions) to keep their minds active.

Prepare the Study Space: Create a quiet, clutter-free place at home for homework and studying. Set expectations early—when, where, and how your child will complete assignments. Being consistent helps reduce stress and procrastination.
